Marketers
Marketers are handlers who either direct shipments of used oil to be burned as fuel in regulated devices or, claim that EPA and State specifications are met for used oil. By definition, marketers fall into at least one of the following categories:
- Transporter
- Processor/Refiner
- Generator
More information on Marketers:
Used oil marketers are required to:
- Obtain and EPA ID number and permit from the Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste.
- Market off-specification used oil only to permitted burners who have an EPA ID number and burn the used oil in an industrial furnace, boiler, hazardous waste incinerator.
- Record each acceptance, and delivery of used oil shipments and retain these records for 3 years.
- Keep copies of analysis of used oil use to determine its suitability as fuel for 3 years.
- Keep a record of each shipment of off-specification used oil to burners and retain these records for 3 years.
- Obtain from the off-specification burner before shipment, a one-time written and signed notice of certification.
- Demonstrate financial responsibility for any liability resulting from accidental spill or mishandling of used oil.
